JKA Well Drilling is a family run pump & well business located just outside Monroe, Washington. Our company was started in 1989 to provide Washington water well drilling services to our clients through out King and Snohomish counties, and has proceeded through years of continual growth ever since. We provide a full spectrum of clean water supply related services in King County and Snohomish County.

  • In addition to PTO, six paid holidays, including New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Water Well Driller

Water Well Drillers are responsible for safety on the job site of all crew members, job site supervision and project management, drilling machine operation, and construction and/or decommissioning of water wells on a job site. This work includes transporting heavy trucks to the job with tools and materials, setting rigs and equipment up to perform work, unloading materials and tools from trucks to the job using proper lifting techniques and/or cranes as available, loading tools into machinery, screwing/unscrewing drill pipe to insert/remove drill bit into the well, and loading tools and excess materials back onto trucks. Perform and supervise safe loading and cargo tie-down functions to transport well casing, supplies, and equipment to/from jobs. Perform daily maintenance of the drilling equipment and trucks, including greasing and fueling machines, and conduct pre-trip inspections. Conduct good housekeeping on the job site and in the trucks, perform the logging and recording of drill cuttings as necessary for the project, keep written records of job site activities, and perform welding of steel, and oxy-acetylene cutting of steel pipe.

Requirements:

  • A Washington State Drilling license is required.
  • Air Rotary with Dual Rotary and/or Casing Hammer experience is required.
  • A CDL Class B or Class A with air brake/tanker endorsement from Washington State is required. A valid DOT Medical Card is required if not already possessed, JKA will reimburse for costs to get a card if necessary.
  • Experience & ability to work in adverse conditions, including wet and muddy conditions. Work is conducted year-round, through most weather conditions.
  • Can lift 50+ pounds safely throughout the day
  • Experience with smartphones/computers for timekeeping & record keeping
  • Follow verbal and written instructions to complete drilling work as required, and safely.

Water Well Drilling Assistant Position

The Drilling Assistant aids in constructing or decommissioning water wells with the lead drillers on a job site. This work includes transporting heavy trucks to the job with tools and materials, setting rigs and equipment up to perform work, unloading materials and tools from trucks to job using proper lifting techniques and/or cranes as available, loading tools into machinery under the direction of the driller, screwing/unscrewing drill pipe to insert/remove drill bit into well, and loading tools and excess materials back onto trucks. Perform safe loading and cargo tie-down functions to transport well casing, supplies, and equipment to/from jobs. Perform ongoing daily maintenance of the drilling equipment and trucks, including greasing and fueling machines, and conducting pre-trip inspections. Conduct good housekeeping on the job site and in the trucks, perform the collection of drill cuttings as directed by the driller, keep written records of job site activities, and periodically perform welding of steel, and oxy-acetylene cutting of steel pipe.

  • CDL Class B or Class A with air brake/tanker endorsement, DOT Medical Card for intra/interstate travel. WA State valid driver’s license is required.
  • Washington State Driller or Trainee Licensing
  • OSHA safety certifications (Hazwopper, 40 hour OSHA, etc)

Well & Pump Service Apprentice

Pump & Water System Apprentices are responsible for assisting with the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of well water system components, including submersible and centrifugal pumps, pressure tanks, holding tanks, and water treatment equipment. Apprentices also perform equipment maintenance functions on trucks & equipment, stock shelves, and perform shop/warehouse daily functions (stocking, cleaning, etc).

Working hours are 730A to 300P, most crews work 40-50 hours per week. We often work year round in inclement weather conditions.

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Mechanics/electricians/plumbers strongly encourage to apply. Individuals with licensing or relevant experience will be offered higher compensation.

Apprentices will learn various plumbing systems, electrical systems, pump installation methods & techniques, hoist & machine operation techniques, well rehabilitation & testing techniques, water filtration & treatment systems, and water well drilling methodologies.

Apprentices will be responsible for acquisition of a trainee card from L&I for 03A pump installation, and attending continuing education events to meet licensing requirements.  Training & licensing costs are paid for by JKA.  Upon earning relevant licensing, the Apprentice can move to the Service or Installer position.

Apprentices must be able to drive large pickup trucks, vans, and other NON-CDL vehicles, must have a clean driving record, and be able to acquire a Federal DOT medical card.

Pump & Filter Service Lead

Our Pump & Filter Service Lead will be responsible for go to our customers homes/businesses and performing well & pump diagnostics to determine the scope of plumbing/electrical repairs required to make their water system operate. Lead’s are expected to be courteous and professional.

Typical service calls require performance of careful & accurate diagnostics of water system problems, creation of a written estimate of repairs, verbally explaining the estimate to the customer, and completion of the sale to customer. Often, the lead is responsible for more than one service call per day and actual work is performed by other crews later in the day/week as scheduling allows, though the Lead will often maintain a project management role – including being responsible for ordering materials, equipment, and prepping work orders for Installers.

We perform our estimating on cloud based software, scan/digitize most of our paperwork, etc. Familiarity and comfort with computers & electronics is absolutely necessary.

Water well pump and/or water filtration experience is STRONGLY preferred. Please note that specialty licensing is required for this position – if you’re out of state, please inquire with WA State Labor & Industries as to your ability to transfer your license into Washington State.

Requirements:

  • 03 or 03A electrical/plumbing license, or 02/01 electrical licensing and willingness to learn/expand licensing.
  • Experience with written & verbal sales

  • Experience & ability to work in adverse conditions, including wet and muddy conditions. Work is conducted year round, through most weather conditions.
  • Can lift 50+ pounds safely throughout the day
  • Knowledge of and ability to use tape measures, shovels, rakes, diggings bars, oxy-acetylene torches, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, gasoline engines, wrenches & hand tools, air tools, fork lifts, rigging, and cranes/lifting equipment.

Pump & Filtration Installer

Our Pump & Filtration Installer will be responsible for implementing the work orders generated by Well & Pump Service Leads, and the sales office.  This will include pulling parts per the work order, ordering parts as necessary, managing an apprentice(s), traveling to our customers homes/businesses, and performing installation/services per the work order, and subsequently documenting work and explaining the results/recommendations to the customer.

Typically installers are responsible for 1-3 calls per day, depending on the scope of work in each call.  Additionally, Installers are often tasked with pumping tests and well rehabilitation work.

We perform our estimating on cloud based software, scan/digitize most of our paperwork, etc. Familiarity and comfort with computers & electronics is absolutely necessary.

Water well pump and/or water filtration experience is STRONGLY preferred. Please note that specialty licensing is required for this position – if you’re out of state, please inquire with WA State Labor & Industries as to your ability to transfer your license into Washington State.
